My son, Colby, was diagnosed Oct. 2005 with RTK. He completed 8months of chemotherapy as well as 7 radiation treatments. Six months post-chemo. a new tumor appeared, Nov. 2006, at the top of his right lung. We have seen remarkable progress during his treatment. However, we have been very discouraged with our current oncology team at OKC. For example, in Nov., our oncologist hadn't explored any other treatment options when she told us in the lobby of the clinic that our son had two weeks to live. Also, we recently found out that his right lung is functioning just fine after being told a month ago that it wasn't at all! Along with many other mistakes in his care, I am no longer going to allow them to treat my son. The attitude we receive is dismay that we are proving the doctors wrong everyday that we show up for another appt. If anyone has any suggestions for a ped. oncologist they recommend fairly close to OKC, I would love to hear suggestions. I am currently gathering info. on TX Children's Hospital (Dr. Dan Bowers and Dr. Naomi Winnick). We would appreciate any help at all. Thank you. zanebam@pldi.net (405)381-9615
